ELKIN, N.C. — A concrete slab at Steve’s Car Wash was destroyed after the city repaired a pipe on the property, according to the Elkin Tribune.
Owner Steve Waddell signed an easement allowing the city to make the necessary repair. Voids and pockets were discovered under the street after flooding in the area, said the release.
Waddell says he was told everything would be replaced if needed when fixing the pipe.
“That’s exactly why I signed the easement,” said Waddell in the article. “Scooter told me I was assured things would get replaced.”
Waddell also said he supported the project at first. “I wanted to support the town through the easement. They baited me into it… They didn’t come through. This is now a nightmare for me.”
At a recent board of commissioners meeting, commissioners objected to Waddell’s request, stated the article.
