The topic of self-driving cars has become one of interest for the automotive industry as auto manufacturers race to create the first commercial self-driving cars.
In the upcoming September issue of Professional Carwashing & Detailing, Chase Disher and Paige Geer tackle the topic in the article, “Car care of the future.” In this article, they discuss how millennials and centennials, primarily, view the concept of self-driving cars and what it could mean for the future of the car care and professional carwashing industries.
“Approximately a quarter of millennials and centennials have trust in the complete autonomy that exists today,” Disher and Geer write. “However, when forecasting 10 years from now, more than double expect to entrust all motor operation to their vehicles. Since this is still a new concept for many consumers, it is expected that demand will continue to grow as self-driving cars become more affordable and readily available.”
Furthermore, LendEDU, a marketplace for private student loans, recently published the results of a poll it conducted highlighting the most recent automobile trends among millennials.
According to the poll, 42.1 percent of millennials would prefer to drive a self-driving car over a traditional car, but more — 50.1 percent — would rather drive a hybrid car over a traditional car.
