ALTOONA, Pa. — Following plans to invest over $15 million in 2016 to increase employee wages, Sheetz Inc. announced it plans to hire more than 8,000 employees companywide, according to a press release.
The hiring initiative aims to increase the convenience store chain’s total employee count and full-time positions by creating and filling jobs at locations throughout Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, stated the release.
In May, reported the release, stores in select North Carolina, Pennsylvania and West Virginia market areas will host open job interviews for prospective employees.
During these interviews, continued the release, prospects will learn about Sheetz’s commitment to “offering employees sustainable careers built on an inspiring culture, community engagement and disrupting the convenience category.”

The c-store company offers competitive benefits packages to its employees, informed the release, which include medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, opportunities for advancement, flexible schedules, adoption assistance, wellness and gym reimbursement, bonuses, vacation time and more.
According to the press release, Sheetz, established in Altoona in 1952, is one of the fastest growing family-owned and operated c-store chains in the U.S. with more than $6.9 billion in revenue and over 17,000 employees.
Sheetz operates more than 500 store locations throughout Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, noted the release.
