GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Spinx Company and the March of Dimes recently gathered with Eric Ashemore of upstate South Carolina to award him with the grand prize for this year’s March for Babies fundraising efforts, according to CSPnet.com.
Ashemore received free gas for a year from Spinx, a convenience store and gasoline retailer based in Greenville, which was presented by Stan Storti, the company’s president, stated the article.
“Because children are at the center of our giving mission, and having been touched by prematurity through my own son, it gives me great pride and satisfaction to present [Eric Ashemore] with gift cards for one year of free gas,” said Storti in the article.
This is the fifth year the company has given away a year of free gas to a March of Dimes supporter, reported the article.
An individual’s name is entered to win the grand prize for every $100 donated or raised in conjunction with the March for Babies walk, continued the article.
Since 2006 Ashemore has supported March of Dimes, informed the article, and this year he donated a payroll deduction option offered by Electrolux, his employer.
“I was a preemie, and my daughter was a preemie,” stated Ashemore in the article.
The grand prize was presented to Ashemore on Aug. 28 at an Anderson-based Spinx c-store, noted the article.
