COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, OH — Though there was some concern over plans for a new development here, the construction of a carwash will move forward with approval from township officials, Cincinnati.com reported.
The July 9 story stated that Car Wash USA, a franchise with 14 locations in the Memphis, TN area, is expanding and adding four washes in the Cincinnati area. The carwash here will part of the redevelopment of abandoned Kmart and Penske locations.
Trustees were not concerned about the carwash, but were instead concerned about the entrance to the mixed office and retail development site. After landscaping concerns were brought up during the trustee’s June meeting, the developer responded with an additional $15,000 to $30,000 in landscaping improvements.
Although there is a tax abatement on the property, the developer of the carwash has agreed to pay the equivalent of the property tax for the wash site. The township will have the property appraised to determine the amount, and the money paid will be placed in the township’s general fund.
The wash will be a $2.2 million investment, and a manager and six part-time employees will be needed on-site.
