The Top 50 List

Once again, family owned and operated carwash chains dominate the Top 50 list. Holding out as one of the few remaining consolidation companies, Wash Depot keeps the number one

Once again, family owned and operated carwash chains dominate the Top 50 list. Holding out as one of the few remaining consolidation companies, Wash Depot keeps the number one spot, as Mace Security falls to third and Autobell takes the number two. As of press time, Mace still had 41 locations in its control, although a deal to finalize the sale of its 12 Arizona locations was pending and likely to reduce the chain’s ranking in 2008.

PC&D’s Top 50 list is comprised of the nation’s largest conveyorized carwash chains, ranked by number of locations. There are other carwashes that may qualify for PC&D’s Top 50 list, but are not included in this report because the number of locations could not be verified by a company representative.

If you know of a firm that has been omitted for any reason, please contact the staff of Professional Carwashing & Detailing® magazine by emailing [email protected] to report this information.

The early bird gets the worm.

John Michael Fery, who is now president and founder of Bluebird Express Car Wash, was a carwash industry veteran before even graduating college. Fery’s fiery entrepreneurial spirit was unleashed at just 16 years old, when he started a mobile detailing company in Boise, Idaho, employing classmates and friends. Through hard work, excellent customer service and strict attention to detail, Fery’s modest business grew every summer until he attended college at the University of Denver. During Fery’s college years, his younger brother, Dominick, headed the mobile detailing company.
