BELPRE, OH — A man was caught trying to break into a coin machine at the Super Splash carwash here, and now has to pay $150 for the broken lock as well as spend 90 days in county jail, The Marietta Times reported.
The April 18 story said James M. Ashwell, 22, was caught last September by police, after he used a walkie-talkie to signal an accomplice who was breaking the lock on the machine.
The accomplice was not charged due to a lack of evidence.

Ashwell told Washington County Common Pleas Court Judge Ed Lane in court that he was remorseful. "I made a bad mistake. It was a bad night, and I'm not going to do anything like that again," he said, according to the story.
Lane sentenced Ashwell to community control and said he could serve 60 days of his 90-day sentencing.
