NEWPORT NEWS, VA — Police are looking for a man who drove into the wall of the Harpersville Road Car Wash here and stole its control box, WAVY News reported.
The Dec. 5 story said owner Brandon De La Garza noticed one of his security cameras was pointed toward the ceiling. Surveillance footage shows a man on the property the night before.
De La Garza said in the story, "[Footage] shows him pulling in, walking around, noticing there's a camera. He looks up at the camera, and then he gets back in his van, backs it up, climbs on the roof of his van and points the camera away. …The guy was here for an hour and a half, smashed it all up, and then ran his van into it because he couldn't get into the vault."
The man apparently damaged the coin vault. And, although he wasn't able to break into it, he caused thousands of dollars in damages.
"You come in here to wash your car, you're going to spend two dollars for four minutes," De La Graza said in the story. "So it's going to take three months before I even get the money back just for this bay. So, I mean, it hurts."
