GARDEN CITY, GA ― A fire that ripped through and destroyed a carwash here was deliberately set, according to investigators, WSAV reported.
The Jan. 2 story said Glenn Allen, a spokesman from the state Office of Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner, stated that the fire is a "clear case of arson."
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for any tips which lead to an arrest and Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens is encouraging anyone with information on the case to contact the state arson hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Anonymous tips are welcome. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible.
The fire occurred Dec. 27 just before 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the building was engulfed in flames.

Now the state fire marshall is doing further investigating as just days ago the owner of the carwash was served with papers for EPA violations.
