BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Although the winter season has been pretty mild thus far for many areas within the U.S., frigid days are not yet behind us.
With many scientific predictions made stating that this year’s El Niño might be the worst to date, this mild streak might quickly come to an end.
The Professional Carwashing & Detailing editors regularly select a video from around the Web to raise awareness, spread education and/or share innovative ideas from around the industry.
In this week’s video, featured on 13ABC Action News’ website, www.13abc.com, Ben Cathey, meteorologist for 13ABC, takes a drive through Meyers Auto Wash in Toledo, Ohio, which stays open regardless of the cold temperatures outside.
The video discusses how the carwash stays warm during the winter season.
“Between the five of us, we rotate periodically every five, 10 minutes,” said Gary Cross, site manager, in the video. “We’ll constantly have a guy out at machine; he’ll come in and unload, [and] catch some of the heat. Then he might come in and ring up a few sales.”
The carwash also uses neoprene brushes, reported the video, which are specially made so they don’t freeze in the cold temperatures.
For many carwashes, including Meyers Auto Wash, winter is the busiest time of the year.
