REDDING, Calif. — Tom Fields, manager at Clean Car Car Wash, wasn’t expecting a winter like this. “We’re definitely not used to wearing shorts and tee shirts and having 80 degree weather in January,” accroding to station KRCR.
While business has been good, Fields is concerned that the lack of rain now will mean carwashes will have water usage cut later, according to the article.
Commercial carwashes are better for water conservation, however. “You actually spend 40 percent less water at a professional car wash rather than doing it yourself at home,” said Fields.
Many carwashes in California recycle their water, said Fields; his carwash is one of them. “We recycle up to 60 percent at a given time.”
