BEAMINSTER, England — After opening in January, the local council may shut down J’s Car Wash and Sandwich Bar because they say the business did not receive proper approval, according to Bridportnews.co.uk.
Owners James Gibbs and Katherine Burgiss are trying to get community support to show the council they are wanted in the area, noted the article.
“It was a bit of a shock when people from the council came down, but we have done all the paperwork now and sent off an application,” said Burgiss in the article. “We thought we would start the petition to prove to the council how many people want us to stay open.”

According to Gibbs in the article, the site was previously a garage. He is now concerned the business will be shut down.
“Apparently someone has made a complaint to the council and we had an officer come down,” shared Gibbs in the article.
“There used to be a garage here, which is why I took it on,” Gibbs added in the article. “It still has a lot of the pipes and things you need, so it made sense to re-open it. It is bringing a service to people that they want.”
