PORT ELIZABETH, SOUTH AFRICA — Carwashes in several areas of the city here were urged to shut down last week due to damaged water pipes, the Post reported.
The Aug. 3 story stated that two pipes that bring water from dams to city reservoirs were washed away during flooding last week. These pipelines provide a third of the city’s water.
A spokesman said in a statement, “We urgently call upon owners of carwashes … to consider closing their businesses until water supply return(s) to normal.”
Water from two other dams was being diverted to the area to limit the number of areas affected.
