MACON, GA — A carwash’s water reclaim system was highlighted in a “Going Green Saving Green” story put together by 41 WMGT here.
The July 17 story explained how the Fountain Car Wash Express keeps cars clean while recycling used wash water. According to the story, Fountain can wash five cars with the same amount of water used during a typical driveway wash.
Owner Chuck Duggan’s family has been in the carwash business for 20 years, and he noted that the wash’s water bill now is lower than it was in 1989. “Without the system, we would probably spend over $2,000 a month in water bills and as it is, it costs about $800 a month,” Duggan said in the story.
The story interviewed Shirley Mathis, a customer that stops by the carwash about every two weeks. “It’s a good $5 carwash and knowing they recycle makes it even better,” she said in the story.
