Waterproofing problems lead to car recall

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Mitsubishi admitted that the problem would allow water to penetrate during washing and detailing.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. recalled more than 1,000 Mirage GLS cars due to a brake system flaw, bworldonline.com reported.

The April 5 story stated that the safety recall was needed to replace front wheel speed sensors. The sensors were found to have insufficient waterproofing.

Why was this carwash packed with customers?

Mitsubishi admitted that the problem would allow water to penetrate during washing, detailing or a rainstorm. This would cause the ABS system to not function correctly.

The affected vehicles were sold from November 2012 to March 2013, and the Japan-based Mitsubishi Motors Corp. decided to do a voluntary safety recall to show commitment to quality and customer safety.

Reaching new reclaim heights

There is a lot of variety in the carwash industry. Not only are there different types of washes, but the design, equipment, chemistry, staffing and service can greatly vary from one site to the next. However, there’s one non-negotiable constant in every wash: Water.

Since water — and lots of it — is so essential to this industry, it only makes sense to strive for ways to maximize every single drop. That’s where the reclaim process comes in. Collecting, rehabilitating and reusing as much water as possible is essential to protect the environment, the availability of resources and a carwash’s bottom line. That’s why industry leaders are currently driving innovation to find ways to reclaim even more water than ever.
