NORTHBROOK, Ill. — A new Waterway Gas and Wash is closer to its new location after it won approval from the neighborhood board, according to an article in the Northbrook Star.
The decision comes after several residents voiced concerns about the carwash being in the neighborhood.
They said it would diminish property values and increase traffic on an already busy road, said the article.
But proponents of the carwash said the busy road was a reason why the carwash should be built on the empty lot, which has struggled to support past businesses, noted the article.
Residents and board members held different views about employment and tax revenue, with some saying the town had trouble getting residents to work at local businesses like the proposed carwash.
Waterway will pay for the construction of a left turn lane, a more modern building to house the carwash and trees to make the site more attractive, the article stated.
