A recent survey, conducted by Central Contacts, found that 78 percent of the people surveyed in Britain prefer to have their car washed at a commerical carwash, an inautonews story said.

A significant generation gap was also noted in the story. Those surveyed between the ages of 21 and 35 preferred a commercial carwash, noting their busy lifestyles, boredom, and laziness as the reasons.
A spokesperson for Central Contacts said in the story, “I am surprised to see how many people do not wash their cars and prefer to pay to have it cleaned. It is interesting to see that the younger generation are more inclined to avoid washing their vehicles and it is rather disappointing to see."
