HAMILTON, Ontario — A woman was caught on video pressure washing her dog at a carwash on Nov. 3rd, according to an article on cbc.ca.
Karleigh Heatley pulled into a carwash with her fiancé to wash her car when she spotted a woman using a pressure washer to bathe her dog, which was yelping, the article stated.
Heatley took a video of the washing on her phone before confronting the woman and telling her to stop, the article noted.
Heatley said that when she saw how the dog was reacting, “I couldn’t just not say anything.”
According to the Hamilton police investigation, the article continued, it was then that the dog owner caused “a disturbance” and police responded to the scene.
The owner told an officer that she was cleaning the dog because it had just rolled in the mud, the article stated; she didn’t believe she was harming it because she was using the low pressure setting.
Police investigators say the dog was not injured, the article continued, but “the woman was given advice regarding the choice and perception [of] using a carwash facility to bathe her dog.”
The Hamilton/Burlington SPCA, an animal rescue organization, is also investigating, according to the article.
“Our protection department was made aware of the video first thing this morning,” said spokesperson Michelle Macnab. “All information has been passed to our officers and they are currently investigating the situation.”
