LUBBOCK, Texas — Warmer weather will heat up the carwash business in Texas, although water conservation is still a concern for mobile detailers, according to everythinglubbock.com.
Kevin Moore, owner of Magic Mobile Detailers, is glad to see the sun coming out. “We’re seeing a lot more people getting washes because of the snow and the salt and all of the grime that gets on the vehicles.”
Tips on starting a mobile detailing business
In the winter, he has fewer workers on due to the lack of business, but this may soon change. “Now that spring is on the way I’m hoping we’ll start picking up with four to six people by summer time.”
Moore’s mobile detailing truck can carry up to 225 gallons of water to wash cars, but his goal for each car is 5 gallons of water. “I try to use as [little water] as possible because the water is the life blood of the business. I can’t wash it if I have no water.”
Mobile Detailer of the Year award given out
He said he has his business registered and follows the water use rules that each city has in place; Moore also said the soap he uses is environmentally friendly. “Any mobile that’s here that’s running a business they’re supposed to get a registration sticker. … I pay them to be able to wash out here.”
