NSF International launches collision repair certification program

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF International is an independent, global organization with 70 years of certification and testing experience.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF International launched the NSF Automotive Collision Repair Shop Certification Program, according to a press release.

The program provides an independent, third-party oversight of collision repair shops, stated the release, and the certification verifies a shop’s ability to conduct high-quality repairs.

Collision repairers and several industry experts, in accordance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) procedures, worked with certification experts form NSF International to develop the program’s requirements, reported the release.

The NSF Automotive Collision Repair Shop Certification Program is designed to assist insurers and vehicle owners in identifying collision repair shops that provide high-quality repairs, the release continued.

Certified shops will be required to meet local, state and federal collision repair shop regulations and undergo biannual audits “to verify continued compliance with the program’s requirements,” added the release.

The release stated that the requirements include: performing consistent, high-quality repairs; using quality parts for repairs; having qualified and trained personnel; using and maintaining proper equipment for the job; providing excellent customer service; utilizing modern computer estimation systems; and responding promptly to complaints and consumer feedback.

“There are 33,000 to 35,000 collision repair shops in the U.S. today,” said Dan Stander, second generation operator, Fix Auto Highlands Ranch, in the release. “With NSF International collision repair shop certification, qualifying shops now have a way to differentiate themselves from the competition in terms of providing higher quality, safer repairs and exceptional customer service.”

NSF International is an independent, global organization with 70 years of certification and testing experience, noted the release.
