SAN ANTONIO — Kim Lubel, chairman and CEO of CST Brands Inc., announced during the company’s second-quarter 2015 earnings that CST Brands will expand its food service and grocery programs following its fall 2014 acquisition of Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, according to CSPnet.com.
According to CST Brands’ presentation, the new Corner Store Market program will incorporate Nice N Easy synergies to “ensure great tasting food offerings across all day parts,” stated the article.
During the fourth quarter of 2015, the program will be implemented into five new-to-industry (NTI) convenience store prototypes in the greater San Antonio area, reported the release.
“[The program] will enhance our food offerings in the afternoon and [evening],” said Lubel in the article. “Going forward, all of our NTIs will be built to support an expanded food program. These five test stores will give us the opportunity to do some menu testing.”
Food sales make up around one-third of the total inside sales at Nice N Easy stores, continued Lubel in the article.
Based in San Antonio, noted the article, CST Brands is a large, independent retailer of motor fuels and c-store merchandise in North America with nearly 1,900 locations throughout the Southwestern U.S and Eastern Canada.
