ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Authorities here arrested a man that allegedly targeted an 89-year-old woman for a home invasion by asking to detail her car, The Suncoast News reported.
The Sept. 17 story noted that Tommy Mitchell, 42, was arrested Saturday after an officer made contact with him on another case.
As PC&D reported on Aug. 15, Mitchell is suspected of performing at least two home invasions involving a fake car detailing service.
In one case, Mitchell used the name Joe Moon and asked a woman if she wanted her car detailed for $50. After finishing the detail, he broke into the house, stole the elderly woman’s money and pushed her down.
Clearwater, FL police have charged Mitchell with burglary, two counts of home invasion, two counts of battery on a person 65 or older and tampering with a witness.
