Carwash chain invests $500K to upgrade reclaim systems

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — At home, washing a vehicle could use up to 150 gallons of water.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cruz Thru Express Car Wash announced the completion of a $500,000 project to upgrade the water reclaim systems in all of the wash’s locations in Southern California, according to a press release.

At home, washing a vehicle could use up to 150 gallons of water, most of which is wasted, stated the release.

With a reclaim system, such as the PurWater Recovery System from New Wave Industries located in North Highlands, California, reported the release, up to 90 percent of water can be reclaimed, filtered, treated and used again in the carwash process.

Cruz Thru has partnered with New Wave Industries “to develop a custom pump system delivering recycled water for use in wash down applications and in all on-site landscape irrigation systems,” informed the release.

The wash also turns to landscape design utilizing decorative rock and gravel features, artificial grass and drought-resistant vegetation to help cut water usage even further, noted the release.

“Our desire is to use a fraction of the amount of water needed to wash your car at home,” said Frank Hobin, owner of Cruz Thru Express Car Wash, in the release. “And we are committed to becoming the standard bearer in water reclamation not only for the carwash industry, but for all businesses in the Central Valley.”
