ScrubaDub employee fired, arrested for theft

BROOKLINE, Mass. — Surveillance footage caught the entire act.

BROOKLINE, Mass. — According to www.boston25news.com, an employee of ScrubaDub Car Wash on Harvard St. was arrested for larceny on Jan. 28th.

When police responded to the carwash’s report of theft, a male customer told the authorities that, after his car had been cleaned inside and out, he noticed a white envelope with money that he had left in his car was missing, the article continued.

The man returned to the carwash and spoke to the manager, who retrieved the surveillance footage, which confirmed that an employee took the envelope and put it in his pocket, the article stated.

Officers questioned the employee, who originally denied the theft before later admitting to stealing the money, the article added.

The employee retrieved the money from a hiding spot and returned it, the article continued.

Officers arrested the employee and charged him with larceny, the article noted.

Danny Paisner, president of ScrubaDub Auto Wash Centers, sent Boston 25 News the following statement:

“ScrubaDub is a third-generation, 52-year-old family business that prides itself on integrity, honesty and customer satisfaction. We sincerely apologize to the customer for the unfortunate experience this past weekend. At ScrubaDub, we do a complete background check on all new hires, and we have a zero tolerance policy for dishonesty and theft. Every ScrubaDub has a state-of-the-art multi-camera surveillance system, which enabled us to view this occurrence. Thankfully, the customer was returned the missing envelope. The employee involved in this incident has been terminated, and it now remains a police matter.”
