Decades-old carwash gets complete overhaul

CHIPPEWA, Wis. — According to www.chippewa.com, Steve’s Car Wash, which has been in business since 1965, recently got a facelift.

Co-owners Mike Peterson and Troy Terhark, who have had the location for the past eight years, recently undertook a renovation project on the carwash to upgrade almost every aspect of it, the article continued.

The location now features a new parking lot, an in-floor heating system, all-new cement throughout and one of the washing bays was raised to accommodate larger vehicles, such as campers, a feature of which Peterson is particularly proud.

“There was nothing like this, and there is nothing right now like this in the entire Chippewa Valley,” Peterson said. “This is the only one around. For now, we are the only option for a bay this tall, so we’re pretty proud of it.”

The Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Aug. 23rd, the article concluded.

Carwash-café hybrid opens

ATLANTA — According to www.ajc.com, Eco Car Spa and Amazing Salads and Smoothies opened Sept. 6th at 900 Northside Dr. NW in Atlanta, offering waterless carwash alongside healthy dining options.

“Eco Car Spa and Amazing Salads and Smoothies is a one-stop destination for those in search of a quick and healthy pit stop,” Owner Lemont Bradley said. “We wanted to make the act of getting one’s car detailed less boring and more efficient while also offering a more sustainable alternative to traditional carwashes.”

The carwash’s interior projects a “West Midtown-meets-SoHo vibe,” according to a press release, and features artwork from local artists along with a lounge area with tables and booths that seat 20 people as well as an outdoor seating area.

The waterless carwash uses biodegradable products, and packages range from a basic exterior wash starting at $15 to a full detail for $275 and up, the article noted.

Window tinting and additional services, such as buffing, headlight restoration, claying and paint correction, are also available, the article noted.

Bradley also owns the car detailing business Auto Spa Bistro, which will celebrate a decade in business next year and also offers edibles, the article stated.

Eco Car Spa and Amazing Salads and Smoothies is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday, the article concluded.

Local business owner expands detailing in area

WILMINGTON, N.C. — According to an article on WilmingtonBiz, a local business owner is looking to expand the area’s detailing options and opportunities.

Mark Johnson, previously a partner in the Buff Master’s Hand Car Wash & Detail Center, has launched Autoworx Pro Detailing LLC in Wilmington with a second Autoworx location opening in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, stated the article.

According to the article, Johnson is now looking to take his detailing and ceramic coating business to the next level.

“There were a lot of things I couldn’t do with Buff Master’s that I am free to do with Autoworx,” said Johnson. “I’ve had the idea of diversifying my services to include specialized detailing for boats, RVs and small aircraft; ceramic coatings for home and car; paint protection film; precision equipment and polishing techniques that revitalize neglected car paint.”

The company, which is currently renovating an existing carwash in Myrtle Beach that is slated to open early October as Autoworx Car Wash & Detail Center, offers full detailing services for boats, RVs, airplanes and motorcycles, concluded the article.

New carwash to fill vacant lot

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — According to an article on www.timesleader.com, a lot that has been vacant for a while will soon be home to a new carwash.

Construction has commenced for a Cloud10 Car Wash at 150 N. Wilkes-Barre Blvd., stated the article.

According to Brendan Johnson of Darien, Connecticut, a principal with the company, the project should be completed in 2020.

“It’s an express carwash. It’s a new model we’re bringing to the area,” Johnson said. “It will have free vacuums and automated tellers where people can buy monthly passes.”

The wash uses “water-efficient and eco-friendly processes,” according to Cloud10’s website.

The Wilkes-Barre location will be designed similar to another one of the company’s carwashes that recently opened in Naples, Florida, concluded the article.

Rain, recycled water help clean vehicles at this wash

NEW HOPE, Minn. — A new local carwash is using recycled water with the intention of saving millions of gallons of water every year, according to an article on kare11.com.

The new Tommy’s Express Car Wash’s owner, Chris Robbins, is putting his own spin on the carwash using more natural light and room and creating a facility that can handle more vehicles, stated the article.

“We put out a clean, dry, shiny car in under two minutes, and we can have up to five cars in our tunnel at the same time. So the wait time is very minimal,” Robbins said.

However, possibly the wash’s most sustainable feature is its water restoration system.

“We reclaim the water that’s been used in the wash process and purify it, and then that takes care of about 90% of the water that’s used during the carwash. Ten percent we lose to like evaporation or it leaves with the vehicle,” Robbins explained.

According to the article, this carwash also harvests rainwater by capturing, filtering and storing it.

“We have five tanks that hold 20,000 gallons each and, as of right now, they are full due to last night’s rain,” Robbins said. “So these five tanks are underground rainwater storage tanks. So they’re buried 17 feet in the ground.”

This new Tommy’s Express Car Wash can be found at 7201 Bass Lake Rd. in New Hope, Minnesota, the article noted.

They have four different wash packages, starting at $8 for a single basic exterior wash, concluded the article.
