MINNEAPOLIS — JJR Power energy experts say they’ve seen an unprecedented demand for solar power thanks to incentives and grants created by the Minnesota Legislature in 2013, according to a press release.
The release said that as solar power rates drop, JJR Power has helped businesses and organizations like schools, community hockey arenas and a water treatment plant add solar power in economical ways.

“Utility rates have gone up 40 percent in the past decade and Xcel Energy’s rates are set to go up another 6-7 percent just in the next two years,” said John Jaffray, president and founder of JJR Power.
Due to legislation passed in the state last year, financial incentives for installing solar are available over the next five years, noted the release.
“The average installation cost per watt of capacity has fallen from $4.50 in 2009 to $2.50 currently,” reported the release. It’s expected to drop below $1.50 by 2020.
JJR Power is a Minnesota-based energy and finance firm founded in 2006.
