MILTON, Del. — Finish Line Car Wash has received approval to construct a private well for the business, according to Delmarvanow.com.
The town’s Water Committee had recommended against the measure, but approval came with a 3-1 vote, said the article.
Mayor Marion Jones cast the “no” vote, saying the move is not good financially for the town. The article noted Jones did not want to turn over town resources to the business like the previous council did.

Finish Line owner Jim Parker maintained that with the well the town can generate more revenue through impact fees and property taxes, stated the article.
Parker wanted the well because chemicals used to treat water like chlorine and fluoride are not good for car paint, explained the article.
A local brewery was also given approval for its own well. The brewery prefers the untreated water because it creates a higher quality product, reported the article.
