DINWIDDIE, Va. — According to www.nbc12.com, Umar Abdus Salaam, 47, was shot and killed early on June 20th outside of the carwash he had owned for nearly a year.
The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office stated that a passerby reported seeing a man lying in the road just before 3 a.m., the article continued.
Salaam was found suffering from a gunshot wound near his carwash, Zoe’s Bubbles & Sudz Detailing, located near a Shell gas station, the article added.
Salaam was transported to a medical center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, the article noted.
Timothy Couch, Salaam’s management partner at the carwash and one of his good friends said that Salaam was a good man, a business owner and a father to a little girl, the article noted.
“I’m kind of trying to hold myself together, for real,” Couch said. “He was a good guy. I’m kind of blown that he’s gone right now. I came up here immediately trying to find out what’s going on. I just hope they find out who did it. His arms were always open to people, and he allowed people to come in too easily. In this type of world today, you can’t just let anybody in your circle, ‘cause people today are just savages and out to see what they can get.”
The incident is still under investigation, the article concluded.
