SHILOH, Ill. — Another Circle K has been proposed for the area, but many residents gathered at a recent board of trustees meeting to express their concerns about the project, according to Bnd.com.
The locals were apprehensive about traffic congestion issues already present in the town, noted the article. The board voted three to one on the project’s requests, allowing it to be considered at May 18’s committee at large meeting.
Plans for the facility include a convenience store, fuel sales, carwash and possible video gambling, stated the article.
“We have been working with the developer for several months on this proposal. The architectural appearance approval process has already gone through the village board process,” Norm Etling, village engineer, said in the article. “The proposal has been reviewed by the St. Clair County Highway Department and subsequently modified from the original submittal.”

The 3,800-square-fooot Circle K Plans to be open 24/7 and employ 12 to 14 workers, reported the article. It will also feature two diesel and 10 gasoline stations, along with 33 parking spots.
One resident expressed concern over the number of gas stations already present in the proposed development's vicinity, shared the article, while another was worried about the project worsening a water runoff issue.
Larry Walker of BAX Engineering attempted to remedy the concerns, saying Circle K will maintain retention and detention ponds. “Trust me, I’m aware of the problem, and believe me when I say I’m going to try and make it better to mitigate some of the runoff with our common (green) space,” Walker stated in the article. “We aren’t allowed to make it worse.”
