Former wash employee executed for workplace shootings

HUNTSVILLE, TX — Robert Wayne Harris was executed Thursday night for killing five co-workers.

HUNTSVILLE, TX — The Washington Post reported that Robert Wayne Harris, 40, a former employee at a Dallas area carwash was executed by lethal injection Thursday night hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused appeals to delay his punishment.

The Sept. 20 story stated that Harris had been working at the Mit-T-Fine Carwash in Irving for about 10 months when he was fired and arrested after exposing himself to a female customer. The following Monday, he showed up before the business opened, demanded the safe be opened and then proceeded to shoot the assistant manager who had fired Harris.

Three more employees reporting for work were forced to their knees and shot from behind.

“I remember just the vicious nature of the offense and the fact it was very well thought-out,” Greg Davis, the former Dallas County assistant district attorney who was the lead trial prosecutor, said in the story. “Guilt is just crystal clear.”

Harris was sentenced to execution by lethal injection by a Texas court for the killings of Dennis Lee, 48; Augustin Villasenor, 36; Rhoda Wheeler, 46; Benjamin Villasenor, 32; and Roberto Jimenez Jr., 15. He later confessed to killing Sandra Scott, 37. Scott was missing for four months before Harris showed police where he dumped her body.
