MCLEAN, Va. — February light vehicle sales were up to 1.3 million, a 9.3 percent increase over January, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Market Beat report.

Sales increased 5.4 percent from February 2014, stated the report. Car sales were up three percent over last year, and light truck sales grew 14.8 percent.

General Motors vehicles accounted for most of the automobiles sold, shared the report. Its sales were up 4.2 percent from February 2014.

Toyota came in second place and saw an increase over 2014, said the report. Ford followed in third place, trailed by Fiat Chryslers and Nissan.

According to the report, cross utility vehicles held the largest share of light vehicle sales at 28.8 percent, representing a 0.8-percent increase over 2014.

The Ford F Series was the best-selling vehicle for the month, noted the report. The Chevrolet Silverado followed in second place.
