MUMBAI, India — Four friends, Rohit Mathur (founder), Amit Thapar, Sanjeev Sinha and Tyna D’Cruz, discussed the idea of a simple carwash during a quiet gathering, and the idea of My PitStop began to come to life, according to yourstory.com.
The four friends shared the same goal of “providing car owners with effective solutions at their [doorsteps],” the article stated.
Instead of water, My PitStop uses steam to clean cars, with only about two gallons of water needed per car compared to the average 58 gallons of water used by other eco-friendly carwashes in India, the article reported.
The steaming processes takes around 30 minutes to complete, and the business charges customers per service, the article added.
Despite facing several challenges, such as finding skilled employees and the traditional carwashing market, the startup has experienced 100 percent growth month to month, continued the article.
“People are amazed to see how the steam technology works,” shares Rohit in the article. “It even gets rid of stubborn grease and grime in just a few minutes.”
My PitStop plans to expand its reach into other cities within India, the article noted.
“We would like to expand geographically from Mumbai to various other cities, mainly where there [is] a large number of working class families who do not have time to visit car cleaning stations,” says Rohit in the article. “We would also like to start other auto ancillary services like [the] changing of wheels, seat covers, [tires] and other car accessories.”
