Sheetz Family Charities to host holiday events for a good cause

ALTOONA, Pa. — During the “For the Kidz” parties, children in need will be presented with new clothes, toys and other basic needs purchased specifically for them.

ALTOONA, Pa. — In partnership with the Salvation Army, Sheetz Family Charities will host “For the Kidz” family parties this year for over 8,000 underprivileged kids throughout the East Coast, according to CSPnet.com.

During the parties, stated the article, Santa Claus will greet children and present them with new clothes, toys and other basic needs purchased specifically for them.

The children and their families will also enjoy games, crafts, food and the opportunity to take pictures with Santa, continued the article.

Furthermore, reported the article, this is the 10th consecutive year Sheetz Family Charities has teamed up with Make-A-Wish to sponsor families of seriously ill children so they can enjoy a weeklong vacation to Orlando, Florida.

Free vacations will be given away to 43 families to Give Kids the World Village, informed the article, which is a nonprofit storybook resort on 70 acres created to provide special facilities for seriously ill children and their families while “taking in the Disney vacation of their dreams.”

“This Christmas we look forward to providing support, hope, joy and happiness to children in need in our local communities,” said Travis Sheetz, executive vice president of operations, in the article. “Through the generosity of our loyal customers, the support of our employees and assistance from our generous partners, Sheetz For the Kidz will turn this holiday season into an amazing time for thousands of children.”

Sheetz Family Charities, a nonprofit organization independent of the Sheetz Corp., has raised more than $18 million and helped over 85,000 individuals since its inception by local store employees wanting to help children in 1992, stated the article.

The nonprofit raises funds through proceeds from Sheetz bottled water sales, in-store donations, the annual “For the Kidz” Golf Classic and other fundraising events held throughout the year, noted the article.
