BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In the latest Guest Post, Scott Huntington, blogger for Off the Throttle, discusses how to tailor your wash’s services for your specific region.

“If you’re setting up a carwash, you need to be aware of a few things to look out for that are unique to your region,” Huntington writes in the post. “Follow these regional carwashing tips, and your customers’ cars will be looking like new in no time — leading to happier customers and profits.”

In the blog post, Huntington shares the following, and many other, region-specific service tips:

• The Northeast: Road salt mixed with snow, ice and dirt make for extra profit in this region. Make sure to specialize in undercarriage services.
• The Southeast: Frequent rain can cause customers to feel their cars need no wash. It’s important to offer expert advice and reasoning as to why it is important to continue professional cleanings even when it’s raining — like effects of acid rain.
• The Southwest: Extreme heat and dryness create difficulties with streaks and marks that result in unhappy customers. Focus on neutral pH soaps that are designed for high heat.
• The Midwest: This region offers a mix of the other regions. Make sure to encourage frequent washes for all the regional hazards to car surfaces.

“Living in the Midwest can be troublesome,” explains Huntington in the post. “The poor weather can also cause people to not wash their cars as often with the thought of ‘it’s only going to get dirty again.’ However, make sure customers know that they should be washing their cars more often because of the salt and dirt.”
