Hyundai teams up with mobile carwasher

LOS ANGELES — Hyundai’s Blue Link service will allow owners to order mobile carwashes.

LOS ANGELES — According to www.engadget.com, at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show on Nov. 28th, Hyundai announced that it is partnering up with mobile carwashing company Washos.

Through Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car package, subscribers will be able to schedule a wash through the Hyundai companion app, after which a Washos crew will show up and clean the vehicle, the article continued.

Not only will Washos clean the exterior of the vehicle, but the attendant will also be granted temporary authority to remotely unlock the vehicle to detail the interior, the article noted.

Hyundai has more plans in store for Blue Link aside from carwashes; it is partnering with Smartcar to expand the service into Blue Link All-Access, which will allow Hyundai owners to remotely order groceries and gas via a mobile app and have them delivered straight to the vehicle, the article noted.

“This proof of concept will allow us to understand the benefits, requirements and challenges of linking to third party providers,” Manish Mehrotra, director of digital business planning and connected operations for Hyundai Motor America, said in a statement. “Developing an open Blue Link ecosystem creates a myriad of possible business models for the future.”

Hyundai’s Blue Link package costs $100 per year for current owners, and the additional services will be free for the first three years for all 2018 Hyundai models; it will launch in Los Angeles before expanding into the Bay Area, the article concluded.
