Monetary donations were collected at all 16 Central Ohio Moo locations on August 16-18, and have been designated to provide thousands of children with new backpacks and school supplies as they return to the classroom, noted the release.

Throughout the Operation Backpack® Donation Campaign, continued the release, Moo Moo Express offered a free “Whole Plus” carwash ($13 value) to customers in exchange for a $5 monetary donation; 100 percent of the proceeds benefitted the Volunteers of America of Ohio & Indiana.

At the campaign’s conclusion, Moo Moo gave away more than 3,870 free carwashes, totaling more than $50,000 at full retail value, added the press release.

“Our team worked really hard this year to help communicate the need for all children to return to the classroom with the necessary school supplies to facilitate learning,” said John Roush, CEO of Express Wash Concepts and Founding Partner of Moo Moo Express Car Wash. “Our customers definitely answered our call for help, and through their generosity we almost tripled our 2018 campaign donation.”

Each year, Operation Backpack® provides school supplies and backpacks to thousands of homeless and at-risk children, and last year, stated the release, Operation Backpack® helped more than 4,940 children in Central Ohio enter the classroom with new backpacks and school supplies.

“Thanks to the partnership with Moo Moo Express, we are confident that we will reach our goal of making sure every child in need throughout Central Ohio will head back to the classroom with a fully stocked backpack,” said John von Arx III, president and CEO of Volunteers of America Ohio & Indiana.
