State buys carwash; plans to have it demolished

BETTENDORF, IA — The carwash is apparently in the way of the realignment plan for two downtown streets.

BETTENDORF, IA — A WaterPark Car Wash will shut down on Dec. 24 as part of the state's Interstate-74 replacement project, the Quad-City Times reported.

The Dec. 4 story said the carwash is in the way of two streets in the downtown area which are going to be realigned.

The carwash, which has been around since 1996, is one of three WaterParks in the area.

"We are invested in the community, and we look forward to many more years at our Moline and Davenport locations," Wayne Guinee, the carwash's general manager, said in the story.

The state of Iowa is working to have control of all the properties in the way of its I-74 project, the story said.

Doug Rick, the project manager with the Iowa Department of Transportation, said in the story, "I think we're going to have some sort of agreement on all of them. We won't have possession for every property, but I think we'll have all the agreements worked out."
