C-store coffee sales rise above Starbucks

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — A New Jersey-area survey showed the c-store chain as first in several categories.

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. — QuickChek reported having higher coffee sales than Starbucks during the third quarter of 2013 despite having fewer locations, according to a press release.

During the same quarter a survey of retail food service companies showed QuickChek as first in overall satisfaction, recommendation and price value for coffee, said the release.

Global market research company StudyLogic conducted the survey, which asked 19,502 respondents throughout North and South Jersey to rank vendors including QuickChek, Starbucks, Subway, McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, Wawa and 7-Eleven in a variety of food and beverage categories, stated the release.

The Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based c-store chain ranked higher than Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald’s, Wawa and 7-Eleven. It was the only retailer in the survey with less than 200 locations, noted the release.

“We are very pleased consumers continue to think so highly of our brand,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling, in the release.

QuickChek is family owned and operated, and it operates 138 stores through New Jersey and New York’s Hudson Valley, reported the release.
