PLAINFIELD, IL — A parcel of property here was annexed and rezoned for commercial use possibly clearing the way for a gas station and carwash, PlainfieldPatch reported.
The Oct. 18 story stated that a nearby parcel was also annexed so the future gas station would be contiguous to the village.
City council votes in favor of carwash
While the rezoning was readily approved by village board members, the owner’s request for a special use permit for a future gas station and carwash faced some opposition. Two trustees voted no, and the mayor had to cast the fourth “yes” vote needed to approve the measure.
The site is now home to a manufacturing facility, and the owners’ attorney said it may be more than 10 years before the gas station could become a reality.
