ESCONDIDO, CA ― The City Council here voted 3-2 in favor of a carwash, allowing it to add on a restaurant and another driveway, even though city residents were protesting against it, the North County Times reported.

The July 29 story said the Talk of the Town carwash asked the council to extend permits so that the extra driveway and restaurant could be installed.

Residents had urged the council to reject the extension, claiming it would cause unnecessary noise. They also said they were unhappy that the carwash wanted to add on a fast food restaurant and not the sit down family restaurant that was originally proposed.

The project has been "in the works" for eight years now, according to the story, and the plan had already been rejected once.
