RARITAN, NJ — Shammy Shine Car Washes will provide free carwashes for veterans and service members on Veterans Day in conjunction with 1,900 other carwashes, the Hunterdon County Democrat reported.
The Oct. 28 story stated that the Shammy locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania are part of the Grace for Vets program. The program has continued to grow with additional carwashes registering to give free washes.
Grace for Vets gears up for record-breaking year
Currently, washes from all 50 states participate, and washes also participate in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In 2011, over 1,400 carwashes provided more than 119,000 free washes for military members on Nov. 11.
Matt & Jeff’s Car Wash in Novato, CA is planning to give away carwashes and hot dogs on Veterans Day as well, according to the Marin Independent Journal.
How to give gracefully
The Oct. 30 story stated that free carwashes will be provided to veterans from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the hot dogs will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
