Dozens of classic cars make a pit stop at carwash

GARDNERVILLE, NV— More than 70 classic cars showed up at Grand Prix Car Wash on their way north to the Reno Air Races.

GARDNERVILLE, NV — Classic cars from Nevada, Southern California and even as far away as Canada showed up at the Grand Prix Car Wash here on their way north to the Reno Air Races, The Record Courier reported.

The Sept. 15 story stated that Owners Chuck and Jan Kriss greeted the tired motorists with coffee and donuts, and the gathering at the Grand Prix was so successful that the organizers want the wash to host it annually.

“The camaraderie was great, and a good time was had by all,” the couple said in the story. “What is unique about this event is that all of these beautiful hot rods and show cars were driven hundreds of miles, whereas many show cars are trailered to events, and those cars are called ‘Trailer Queens.' The reason they trailer them is that they don't want any road damage, or they are not dependable enough to make the trip. This group likes to enjoy their cars and drive them.”
