Owner accepts closed competitor’s gift cards

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fred O’Neill felt bad for the customers of a closed carwash that were left with worthless cards and certificates.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The owner of Fred’s Car Wash here announced that one of his washes would accept gift cards and gift certificates from a recently closed competitor, Minuteman News Center reported.

The Sept. 5 story stated that Fred O’Neill, owner of Fred’s Car Wash for over 30 years, saw that some former Villa Car Wash customers were left with useless gift cards when the nearby Villa Car Wash closed. As PC&D reported, one customer was left with $200 in worthless prepaid washes.

O’Neill was sympathetic to these customers. “I felt so bad for the customers of Villa Car Wash who were out money. At Fred’s Car Wash, our customers often use Prepaid cards for the convenience and value. At Fred’s, our customers trust us and we wanted to help restore faith in these car wash customers,” he said in the story.

Thus, Fred’s Southport location will accept the certificates and cards for full payment towards the purchase of exterior services, but they must be redeemed by Nov. 1, 2012.

All four Fred’s Car Wash locations are owned and family operated, and they offer exterior washes and detailing. Fred’s is known for its superior customer service, the story noted.
