CHICAGO — The Car Wash Show™ has spent the last ten years away from Chicago, but is making its way back to the area for the 2014 show, according to the Chicago Business Journal.            

Stars of the hit show “Shark Tank” will be giving the keynote this year, and a lucky contestant will be able to pitch his or her ideas to Daymond John and Robert Herjavec of the show.

This year is a special anniversary for the carwash industry, marking 100 years of professional carwashing. The industry began in Detroit and the first wash, “Automobile Laundry,” was opened by Frank McCormick and J.W. Hinkle.

There are over 100,000 carwashes in the United States, according Eric Wulf, the CEO of the International Carwash Association. He added that the American professional carwash industry generated $19 billion in sales in 2013.
