BALTIMORE, MD — The results of a scientific study assessing the health risks of laundered, reusable shop towels will be released in a national telephone news briefing on March 5, according to an email media advisory.
The Feb. 12 email stated that the study was conducted by an independent researcher that is a textile services industry advocate. The study looked to quantify health impacts of towels in the automotive and machinery industries.

The study is a direct response to allegations made by the disposables industry. The independent study has been submitted for peer review for publication by a Johns Hopkins University industrial hygienist.
