SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — A previously denied proposal to build an express carwash in Simi Valley is being reconsidered by the city’s planning commission, according to the Simi Valley Acorn.
The Magic Express Car Wash, proposed by local business owner Nidal Azzi, will include self-service vacuums, a pay station and a carwash tunnel, stated the article.
A portion of the carwash would be built on a vacant section of a mobile home park, the article reported, and the planning commission unanimously denied Azzi’s request for permits because the “project has the potential to disrupt the health and welfare of the adjacent mobile home park.”
An appeal with altered plans, including quieter machinery and 6- and 8-foot sound walls, was sent to Simi Valley City Council, the article continued.
During a recent public hearing, the City Council voted four to one to send the modified proposal back to the planning commission for reconsideration after 15 people supported the project and seven spoke against it, informed the article.
The wash will recycle 80 to 85 percent of its water, which residents acknowledge as a positive point given California’s drought, the article noted.
