Man uses blow torch in robbery attempt

GRANDVIEW, Mon. — The thief probably only stole about five dollars since the lock boxes are emptied twice a day.

GRANDVIEW, Mon. — Police are searching for a man who used a blow torch to try and steal money from a carwash, according to Fox4kc.com.

Big Billie’s Car Wash caught the act on surveillance video, noted the article. Police found the melted lock from the change box at the scene.

“What [the suspect] didn’t know is there [are] two locked doors, and when you open the first door it sets the alarm off,” said Mike Lane, manager of the wash, in the article.

“He came in and he had a blow torch in his trunk, [he] put the hoses through the back seat then pulled them out the window and he cut the bars [and] lock off the box,” Lane continued in the article.

Lane also noted the thief probably only stole about five dollars since the change boxes are emptied twice a day.
