Update: Board overturns initial rejection for new wash

PEWAUKEE, Wis. — The Pewaukee Village Board has reversed its initial vote to deny a proposal for a new Jilly’s Car Wash.

PEWAUKEE, Wis. — On Nov. 17, the Pewaukee Village Board voted four to three against a proposal for a new Jilly’s Car Wash to be built around the Meadow Creek Market area, according to the Lake Country Reporter.

However the board reversed this decision on Dec. 2, stated the article, voting four to three to approve the carwash.

The Professional Carwashing & Detailing editors recently featured the board’s rejection of the carwash proposal in a past edition of Carwash eNews. You can find this coverage here.

Cathy Baumann, board trustee, changed her original vote to deny the carwash to one in favor of approval after speaking with Jon Zimmerman, owner of Jilly’s, and Jim Forester, property owner, to address concerns she initially had about the project, reported the article, which included the location of the wash’s entrance and exit points as well as its proximity to one of a neighboring Menard store’s driveways.

She also stated that she was under the impression that the parcel in the planned development, which is 1.5 acres, was not developable, added the article.

Zimmerman said he is “ecstatic” that the board reconsidered the carwash proposal, continued the article.

The new carwash will be the second location for Jilly’s, informed the article, and Jeff Knutson, village board president, asserted that the wash will be the kind of business that will bring a “better look and better quality of life” to the area.

“I want to help the community, and the only way you can do that is if you’re able to bring jobs and businesses to the community,” said Knutson in the article. “I look forward to having more businesses come to the village and want to locate here.”

The carwash, which Zimmerman reported will clean and dry a car in less than three minutes, is projected to clean around 300 vehicles per day, noted the article.
