CHICAGO — According to www.wlsam.com, the family of a woman who died in a freak carwash accident is suing the business.

On Jan. 28, 2017, police state that Jerauld Kirkpatrick drove his car through the closed overhead door of Norwood Hand Carwash, the article continued.

Passion Overstreet-Vinnett, 28, was inside at the time and was struck by the car and pinned underneath by the door; then later died at a local hospital, the article noted.

Although her death was ruled an accident, Overstreet-Vinnett’s estate is suing both Kirkpatrick and Norwood Hand Carwash for negligence resulting in the victim’s death, the article added; the amount of damages it seeks was unspecified.

The secretary for the carwash told the Chicago Sun-Times that he has “recorded proof the only party negligent was the driver who hit the lady,” and that the carwash door was closed and had strobe lights outside to alert people, the article concluded.
