Paranoia leads to workplace shooting

CLEVELAND — After a group meeting warning employees not to steal, one employee retaliated.

CLEVELAND — According to www.cleveland.com, D’Andre Penn, 21, an employee of Carnegie Auto Wash shot a coworker after their boss held a meeting about stealing from the business on Dec. 1st.

The business owner told police that he warned several employees during the meeting about stealing from the carwash, but he did not single out anyone, the article continued.

Penn, who had been working at the carwash for about eight months, got angry after the meeting because he thought the owner was accusing him of stealing, the article noted.

He yelled at his coworkers and threw cash on the ground, the article added, and a 35-year-old coworker — the boss’s nephew — tried to calm him down.

Penn then pulled out a gun and shot the coworker at point-blank range in the right leg, the article stated.

Penn then aimed the gun at three other employees who witnessed the shooting, the article reported; one of the coworkers told police that he was scared Penn would shoot and potentially kill other employees.

“His blatant disregard for the safety/lives of others is evident upon review of the [surveillance] video,” stated a detective in the case who asked the judge to set a high bond for Penn.

The coworker was treated and released from the hospital, the article added.

Penn fled after the shooting, but he was later arrested after being questioned by the police, the article noted.

Penn has been charged with felonious assault and is being held at the Cleveland City Jail on $250,000 bond, the article concluded.
